Comrades, welcome to another session of Shit Hot People’s Politburo. This fortnight we’re thrilled to be part of the launch of Organise Aotearoa, a new socialist organisation for New Zealand. We’re joined by James Roberts, one of the people who helped put Organise Aotearoa together.
First, however, it’s Concerned Comrades, where we use the immortal revolutionary science to answer your questions. If you have a quandary and you think we, your best friends, can answer it, our DMs are open on the pplspolitburo Twitter account.
The questions this week led quite easily into a discussion with James about Organise Aotearoa — what it is, why it needs to exist, and how people can get involved. Organise Aotearoa has come from a recognition that traditional political structures are incapable of resolving the crises of capitalism. At the same time, socialist reading groups and online posturing (apart from this podcast) have achieved nothing for working class people. By building a mass-base among the working class, Organise Aotearoa hopes it will be capable of exercising political power as workers. We are unironically extremely enthusiastic about this project, and we hope you will be too. You can read more about Organise Aotearoa, and join it, on its website here.
We close the show by reading Kate Hawkesby, a pundit married to Mike Hosking and now stooping literally to the level of bullying high schoolers. We hope the racism energy radiating out of Mike’s body reaches a terminal level soon and we’re all spared any more of these columns.
As Mao Zedong teaches, revolutionaries are like fish and the people are our water. If you want to kick us a cup of the good shit and keep us from suffocating, consider supporting the show on Patreon.
